This is 'Tree Of Life" done in a Sue Cody class. I handquilted the background first with variegated perle and then appliqued on top. This quilt is getting heavier and heavier so it
is slow going and I have to work on our bed to help take the weight. I have arthritis in my
hands and am also getting RSI so if anyone has any handy hints to help with this please contact
me as I want to keep quilting (of course!!!!). I will eventually put this on a wall in our bedroom as I have painted the wall behind our bed a pale lime green. My favourite colors are lime green
and fushia pink. You mightn't be able to tell that from previous quilts but as I photograph
more quilts you will always see some green or pink somewhere in different shades.
These fussy cut hexagons are for another quilt a way off yet but thought you might be
interested in them now.

ReplyDeleteYour Tree of Life quilt is beautiful! And I love your hexagons. I am always amazed at how different a piece of fabric looks when fussy cut and sewn like that. Dying to see what you turn them in to.
ReplyDeleteVery well done, the patterns you made are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love that tree of life quilt. The hexagons are out of this world. It almost makes me want to do some. If only I didn't have so much on the go.
ReplyDeleteAre those hexagons edible? I think so! Lovely:) Thank you for sharing your UFOs as well. Is the tree of life your own pattern? I would not be surprised, seeing how inventive those hexies are. Expressions of an artist at play!
ReplyDeleteYour hexagons are (hands down) some of the most beautiful I've ever seen! If you don't mind...I'd love to talk about them on my blog. Love that you used some of the same Yuwa fabrics that I have too!

Welcome to blogland. Your fussy cut hexagons are looking great
ReplyDeleteThe hexagons look great - very eyecatching. I love your hexagon quilt too, very similar to a top I have sitting in the cupboard waiting for someone to quilt it! Welcome to blogland and nice to see another Aussie out there.

ReplyDeleteHi Sharron,
ReplyDeleteThanks for calling over at mine.
I was wondering whether you would mind if I put a link to your blog on a group blog that I am a member of? It's @ http://hexagonquilt-along.blogspot.com/ I see you are already a follower of 2 of the members, Daisyquilts and Once upon a time. Unless you are already a member of course which I have overlooked?
Hi Sharron, welcome to blogland! Lynne sent me over fromthe Great Hexagon Quilt Along. Your fussy cuts are wonderful! The only advice I can offer on the hands is to ease the movements you know make it worse: I use a "turbo mouse," an upside-down mouse with the ball on top, to aid with my carpal tunnel and it helps immensely.
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful! Please keep posting on the progress of this project. I'm interested in your process. Is it planned out or does it happen "organically"? I've added your blog to the list that I follow!
ReplyDeleteI followed a link from the Great Hexagon Quilt Along to see your amazing fussy cut hexies. Since I am also hooked on lime, fuschia & dragonflies, I'll be following your work to borrow ideas.
